Slavic Rebel Songs: Vysotsky's wolf hunt

While writing about Slavic rebels it is impossible to forget about the real rebel, who endangered their lives to fight for freedom. Wiki says Vladimir Vysotsky was a soviet artist. Indeed he lived during the days of Soviet Union, but he was a poet, and in the matter of fact, there is no soviet language. That is why I would say, he was Russian.

He was very influential both in Russia and Poland for his songs filled with political meanings. For example Polish bard Jacek Kaczmarski sang his own version of a song below, with Polish lyrics.

Vysotsky has started his career as an actor, staring both in the theater and in a few movies. his songs were rebellious and anti - governmental, but as there were no such type of music, as punk, he was a singing poet. But in fact he sang in a very aggressive way, loudly and with a huge amount of charisma, but not always in tune. Anyway it doesn't change the strength of expression of this artist.

Because he was well known actor in time, he started to sing, it was unusual from modern point of view, that newspaper tried to keep his singing in secret. Nevertheless he gained a huge popularity in Russia, also because of his freedom message. And also because of this message he had some problems with the government and papers, which was said before.

Here we go with the Vysotsky's most recognizable song: Ohota na volkov - Wolf Hunt. English lyrics are the part of video.
