Belarus band, which is a
sociological phenomena. Because of them youngsters in Belarus started
again to speak Belarussian, which is being replaced by Russian
language in this country runned by a dictator. They are an example
for how music can fight succesfuly with the dictatorship and lack of
freedom.
Band was founded in 1994 by the former
musicians of Morja band. Their name refers to the shortcut from
Independent Republic of Belarus. It is one of my favourite Eastern
European Bands.
Kazik Staszewski is one of Polish most
recognizable artists. He is present on the music scene since 1979,
anyway his music still have got a lot of followers. I could write a
lot about this artist but I will do so in my future posts. This time
it is the song that is important.
Janek Wiśniewski have fallen. The
significance of this song might be compared to Guns
of Brixton, but I
would say in Poland it is quite symbolical, so it might be treated more
seriously .
While writing about Slavic rebels it is impossible to forget about the real rebel, who endangered their lives to fight for freedom. Wiki says Vladimir Vysotsky was a soviet artist. Indeed he lived during the days of Soviet Union, but he was a poet, and in the matter of fact, there is no soviet language. That is why I would say, he was Russian.
The Ukrainians is an interesting story.
They were formed in 1990 in Leeds, but they sing in Ukrainian. They
play music inspired by Slavic folk, but with the energy of rock
bands.
With this post I would like to start the new part on our blog. I will right something about Slavic rebel music. Will start with the Leningrad - Russian punk group.
First post of English Free Music Zone. Site devoted to music from all over the world, under one condition - lyrics must not be in English. We will show you some Slavic punk bands, Spanish rebel songs and some other stuff.
